Dolomites Hiking Trails - Our Top Recommended Short Hikes

Looking for Dolomites hiking trails that won't take up too many days of your Italian trip? The Dolomites are a wonder of nature and a true paradise for hikers, offering some of the most beautiful and rewarding hiking trails in the world. In this blog post, we will explore two short hikes in the Dolomites that are sure to take your breath away.

Dolomites Hiking Trails - Catinaccio and Sciliar - 3 days

Our first hike will take us through the Catinaccio and Sciliar groups, two of the most stunning mountain ranges in the Dolomites. The trail is a three-day trek that starts in Val di Fassa and takes us through the heart of the region, offering stunning views and unique cultural experiences.

On the first day, we will hike to Lake Antermoia, one of the most recognizable locations in the Catinaccio range. The lake is a popular spot for photographers and hikers alike, offering a stunning reflection of the surrounding mountains. The hike to the lake is moderate and takes around four hours, but the views are well worth the effort.

On the second day, we will continue our trek through the Catinaccio range, passing through the beautiful meadows of Alpe di Tires and reaching the summit of Denti di Terrarossa. This peak offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, and is a perfect spot to rest and take in the scenery.

After three days of hiking, the final leg of your journey through the Dolomites will take you primarily downhill through the picturesque Bear Valley. But before you begin your descent, you'll have the opportunity to hike up to Petz Peak, the highest summit in the Sciliar group. From this vantage point, you'll be treated to a spectacular perspective of many of the Dolomite groups. In the afternoon, a private transfer will bring you back to your starting point in Val di Fassa, concluding your unforgettable journey through this stunning mountain range.

Throughout our trek, we will have the opportunity to experience the unique culture and traditions of the Dolomites, including the local cuisine and wine. We will also stay in cozy mountain huts and refuges, where we can rest and recharge before continuing our journey.

Dolomites Hiking Trails - Molveno to Brenta Dolomites - 2 days

Our second hike will take us to the Brenta Dolomites, a Unesco Natural World Heritage Site renowned for their stunning beauty. This chain of peaks, massifs and mountains of dolomite extends for over 42 kilometers in length and 12 in width, from Non Valley to Giudicarie valleys.

Our hike will start at Molveno lake, one of the cleanest lakes in Italy, and a popular spot for swimming and water sports. From there, we will follow a moderate trail that takes us through the heart of the Brenta Dolomites, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.

Our journey begins with a morning ascent via cable car to Pradel, followed by a hike up the valley and onto the slopes of the Brenta Dolomites. Our overnight stay will be at the Pedrotti refuge, perched at an altitude of 2,400 meters and offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks.

Our final destination, Molveno, is reached via a descent through stunning mountain scenery. As we make our way down, we'll pass through the Val dei Massodi, as well as the Selvata and Cacciatore refuges. If desired, we can opt to shorten the last part of the descent by taking a 4x4 off-road taxi, allowing us to enjoy the spectacular views without sacrificing any of our energy
